Traveling to the 2011 Swindon Mela

BY CAR

If coming from the M4 motorway, exit on either Junctions 15 or 16 and head for Swindon Town Centre, then follow signs for Old Town.

The Mela is held in the Town Gardens in Old Town.

There is NO parking at the gardens or in the residential areas around the gardens. The area is permit parking only.

Please have consideration for local residents and DO NOT park in front of driveways or obstruct public highways or access routes.

Traffic Wardens will be patrolling this area during the event.

Croft Sports Centre car park and Nationwide car park are specially designated for Mela visitors. Just outside of these car parks the Number 11 bus will take you into Old Town where you will need to get off at Prospect: Victoria Road, where it is a short walk to the Town gardens.

The Mela recommends Wroughton Park and Ride, where you take the number 11 bus which will drop you off at Prospect: Victoria Road at the corner of Bath road and is then just a 5 minute walk from the gardens and is by far the simplest method of getting to the Mela.

There are also several public car parks available in Old Town and the area. The number 22 and 23 buses are running immediately adjacent to the festival grounds. The 11 and 71 buses have stops that are also nearby.

You can find a map of all the bus routes and roads by clicking on this link:

For persons with severe restricted mobility who hold a current blue badge there is limited parking in Quarry Road on a first-come first-served basis.

Being Dropped Off?

If coming by taxi or being dropped off there is a one-way system along Westlecot Road towards Springfield Road and persons can be dropped off at the drop-off point on Westlecot Road.

BY RAIL

If coming by train from Swindon railway station, walk the short distance to Flemming Way, Stop W and take the Number 22 bus to Kent Road/Goddard Avenue stop in Old Town which is just a few minutes walk from the gardens.
