The Swindon Mela is a community organisation made up of people who are inspired by the event enough to ensure it not only continues but also grows from strength to strength. The Executive Committee manages the day-to-day running of the organisation and develops a strategy for developing the arts, creating community links and promoting equality and diversity within the Borough of Swindon. Swindon Mela has applied to the Charity Commission for Charity Status and is registered with Companies House as a voluntary not for profit Company.
Co-ordinating the Mela requires teamwork and so we have 6 teams or sub groups which focus on specific aspects of work. Each group has members – ordinary people with skills, knowledge or just an abundant enthusiasm for making sure the event and other activities happen.
You are welcome to join any of the sub groups, which are
- Finance and Fundraising
- Programming
- Marketing & PR
- Volunteering
- Community Projects
- Health Zone
We are also really keen to hear from people who would like to perform at the Mela or participate in our
community arts workshops
