Adjacent to the Bandstand you will be able to have a photo opportunity next to a traditional rickshaw.

Official Opening Ceremony

At 12 pm the Swindon Mela officially opens with a warm welcome from the Mela Chair, followed by speeches by the Mayor of Swindon Cllr Ray Ballman, MP for South Swindon Robert Buckland and Managing Director for Guinness Hermitage Barbara Shaw. This will be followed by cutting of the Mela cake which is to be shared and enjoyed—just as the Swindon Mela. After the cake cutting ceremony you are welcome to join the procession to the opening of the Showcase to traditional Kerala drum beats from -Swindon Stars.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE

The Town Gardens have been placed under the Register of Parks and Gardens as a Grade II site by English Heritage; Swindon Mela asks you to kindly respect the gardens by not disturbing any flower beds, trees and the architectural infra-structure of this site.
